The TU-58 tapes were recovered using a laptop with a 2.16GHz Duo Core 2 processor running VMWare hosting MS-DOS 6.2 with a USB serial port talking to an external dual TU-58 DECtape II drive using PUTR software. Each of the tape files is exactly 262,144 bytes which is the standard size for a TU-58 tape cartridge. All tapes were original official DEC cartidges

Each tape was read at least twice and compared to a previous read from a different TU58 drive to ensure all tapes were correctly read. Unfortunately, not all tapes were readable.
